History
|
King Asia Foods is a family-owned food manufacturer, established in 1985 by Kin Him Fong.
Kin Him Fong and the Fong family have been making and serving Chinese food since World War Two, as the Fong family owned a pub in Hong Kong, and served British servicemen Chinese curries and other Chinese dishes.
In 1960, the Fong family moved to the UK, and subsequently opened the first Chinese restaurant in Worksop, serving many of the dishes that had been served to British servicemen back in Hong Kong.
After many successful years in the restaurant trade, Kin Him decided that serving the British public within the family restaurant was not fulfilling his ambitions.
In 1985, Kin Him and his brother, Jimmy, established the company to offer the British public, food that he would eat and enjoy himself. At the beginning, Chinese sauces were made for the retail market, and it didn’t take long before the company began to grow, by securing major deals with major frozen food retailers.
By the early 1990’s, So Him Fong joined the company as Managing Director, to push the company further forward. So Him quickly secured new business and helped the company diversify into the foodservice sector, whilst overseeing the company expansion, which included securing the new 50,000 sq ft site from which we currently operate.
By 2000, King Asia had grown into a £10 million company, employing over 200 staff, with a bright future. However, a few years later, the frozen food industry was hit hard with negative publicity and King Asia had to consolidate its business and work hard to ensure it had a bright future.
Today, King Asia is a company on the up, having secured some major contracts, notably supplying into the NHS. With the Fong brothers driving the company forward, and a blend of youth and experience within the company, King Asia strives to be a major, quality-driven food manufacturer, within the retail and foodservice sectors.

What We Do
|
We are a food manufacturer, producing quality-driven food. Originally, we began as a Chinese food manufacturer, but we have diversified into other world cuisines, maintaining the quality approach, because we believe that the primary factor behind the consumers’ satisfaction is taste. We also produce components, such as sauces and cooked meats, which are useful for skilled kitchens. This has not distracted us from being oriental food specialists, as this remains our core business.
We produce food for retail, foodservice, and other manufacturers:
- Retail: We produce Chinese and Indian ready meals, primarily for frozen food specialists and convenience stores, such as Farmfoods, Spar, or Nisa Today’s, to name a few. We also have listings with Morrisons, and supply into many wholesalers and the independent Chinese retail market.
- Foodservice: We design our products to specifically meet our customers’ needs. Our flexibility means that we can even produce high-end authentic Chinese food for Chinese consumers.
- B2B: We have the expertise to provide components that enhance anyone’s ready meals. Whether it’s authentic sauces, battered products, or specially marinated meats for sandwich or meal producers, we can tailor-make components fit for any purpose.
Above all else, we make food with passion. We sincerely believe that we are one of, if not, the best at what we do, and take immense pride in our products. We also enjoy creating new dishes, and ensuring that what we do fulfils our customers’ requirements fully. |
